Matt Collum

Matt Collum joined Columbia Athletics in July 2025 as Assistant Director of Recreation Operations, Membership.

Before arriving in NYC, Collum served as Assistant Director of Retention Initiatives at Caldwell University. In his role at Caldwell, Collum analyzes student success data to improve retention, leads implementation of Navigate360 (EAB) technology, and coordinates First Year Seminar courses. His efforts have contributed to a 5% increase in student retention and enhanced campus-wide academic support programming.

Prior to joining Caldwell in 2024, Collum served as Assistant Director of Member Services and Operations at Boston College Campus Recreation, where he managed a team of 90+ student leaders and increased membership and engagement across the board. He also previously held roles in student affairs and operations at Boston College and other institutions, and has presented at multiple national Fusion software conferences.

Collum is deeply involved in collegiate recreation leadership, having chaired the NIRSA Career Development Committee and worked game day operations at NCAA Championships.

He earned his bachelor’s degree from Montclair State, a master’s in sport management from Western Illinois, and is currently pursuing his MBA at Boston College.
