Steve Speedling joined the Columbia University Athletics Communications staff in November 2022. He is the primary communications contact for the Columbia volleyball, lacrosse, cross country, track & field, and men's & women's swimming and diving programs.

Speedling joins Columbia after spending one year with the John Jay College Bloodhounds sports information office. Serving as an assistant sports information directer, Speedling helped oversee all 15 of John Jay's sports. His main responsibilities included writing for johnjayathletics.com, keeping statistics, PA announcing, and social media operation.

Prior to his move to New York City, Speedling spent six years in the sports information office at Marist College where he obtained his bachelor's degree in communications and master's degree in integrated marketing communication. While with the Red Foxes, Speedling served as the primary communications contact for Baseball, Men's and Women's Lacrosse, Track & Field, Cross Country, Men's and Women's Swimming & Diving, Volleyball, Water Polo, and Men's Soccer.

Additionally, Speedling enjoyed nine years working for the Hudson Valley Renegades, the High-A affiliate of the New York Yankees, where he served as the MLB Advanced Media Stringer and Official scorer from 2013-2022. He still fills in for the Renegades when time allows to this day.

During his time in Poughkeepsie, Speedling also served as a youth basketball and baseball coach, all while developing his own sports podcast network: "Hoop Fiends."

One of the highlights of his career came in 2018, when he was chosen to represent the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference during the 2018 Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame Classic in Belfast, Ireland where he was responsible for all of the tournament statistics and programs.

A native of Cortlandt Manor, New York, Speedling currently resides in Secaucus, New Jersey.
