The first game started out with Princeton on top 3-0, but the Lions bounced back and tied the game at six. Columbia took the lead and did not give it back and amassed an eight-point lead (27-19) to finish the game out easily for the win, 30-25.
Columbia found themselves down late in the second game 24-27 only to come back and win 30-28 with a 5-1 run. The Lions gained a 14-6 lead on the Tigers in the third game, forcing Princeton to call a timeout to regroup. The two teams went back and forth on the next couple points until the Tigers tried to have a comeback of their own, scoring seven points in a row to tie the score at 20. The Lions didn't back down and with clutch kills from first year Amalia Viti and junior Nikki Learned, Columbia came up with the victory 30-24.
Viti led the Lions again in kills with 15 with a hitting percentage of .370 and sophomore Cassie Ligh scored her second double-double of the weekend with 11 kills and 10 digs. Sophomore Natalie Gerling put up another set of double digits with 14 kills as did first-year Ashley Kim with 15 digs. The Lions hit the road for two weeks, facing cross-town rival LIU on Tuesday, October 18th at 7 p.m. in Brooklyn, N.Y.
