CAMBRIDGE, MASS. - Despite sophomore forward Brittney Carfora scoring a career-high 16 points all in the second half, the Lions could not come back from a first half deficit of 17 points, losing to Harvard 86-63.

The Crimson took a 7-0 lead in the beginning of the game, capitalizing on three Columbia turnovers. The Lions fired back and scored six points to come within in one point of the lead. Harvard's Emma Moretzsohn, however, went on a scoring run of her own, netting six points to put the Crimson ahead 13-6.

After a three-pointer from sophomore guard Michele Gage, the Crimson went on an 11-2 run to gain a 24-10 lead. Columbia battled back to cut the lead to eight (26-18) with two three pointers in a row from first-year guard Katrina Cragg with 5:13 left in the half. The Crimson didn't back down and regained its 17-point lead by the end of the half, leading 39-22.

At the end of the half, Cragg led the Lions with six points and junior guard Shasta Henderson had three rebounds. For the Crimson, Moretzsohn had 13 points and Jessica Knox and Christiana Lackner both had three rebounds.

In the second half, the Lions got within 15 points of the lead, but the Crimson held them off, leading by as many as 24 points before the end of the game. Columbia was highlighted by the scoring effort from Carfora, who hit three three-pointers in a row in the middle of the half.

For the Lions, Carfora led the team in scoring with a career-high 16 points, which she scored all in the second half. She went 5-for-8 from the floor, 4-for-6 from three-point range and 2-for-4 from the charity stripe. Gage finished with 15 points and a game-high seven rebounds. Also scoring in double digits for Columbia was junior guard Megan Griffith with 14 points and eight assists.

Columbia takes on Dartmouth in Hanover, N.H. tomorrow, Saturday, February 4th at 7 p.m.
