
Volleyball Falls to Princeton in Four

The Lions mustered only five kills in game one, falling 30-12, but Columbia opened game two on a 5-0 run on kills by Lauren Russell, Alex Marchyshyn and Amalia Viti. The Lions led until a kill by Taylor Carroll initiated as seven-point run by the Tigers that gave them a 13-12 lead. Princeton capitalized on a couple of Columbia errors and Parker Henritze added two kills to give Princeton the lead for good in the 30-23 win.
The Lions had six aces in game three, with Cassie Ligh serving three during a five-point run to open the game. After taking the 5-1 lead, Columbia did not trail by more than three points the rest of the game.
Princeton opened game four with a 7-2 run, with three kills by Lindsey Ensign, and Columbia could not rally from the deficit in the 30-20 loss.
Viti led the Lions with 15 kills and 11 digs, two aces and three block assists. Russell ended with five kills, one solo block and two block assists.
Natalie Gerling and Ligh finished with nine and eight kills respectively. Ligh added 10 digs as well. Marchyshyn had 30 assists, two aces and six digs in the loss.
Columbia dropped to 3-10, 0-2 Ivy League, while Princeton improved to 10-3, 2-0 Ivy League. The Lions return to action on October 13, when they travel to Penn for a 4 p.m. game.
