
Volleyball Drops 3-0 Match to Penn

PHILADELPHIA ? Columbia dropped a 3-0 match to Penn (30-9, 30-21, 30-21) as Penn improves to 2-1 in the Ivy League while the Lions fall to 0-3 in the league.
With the game tied 5-5 in the first, Penn went on 25-4 run and closed out the game on an 8-1 scoring streak. Penn hit over .600 for the game-one win.
Penn's Kathryn Turner had seven kills on nine attempts in game two and each time the Lions closed the gap, the Quakers had an answer to hold off the rally. Natalie Gerling had eight kills and just two errors on 13 attempts to lead the Lions and keep Columbia in the second game.
Game three played out similarly to game two, with Turner adding another seven kills to give her a match-high 17. Gerling added six in the 30-21 loss.
Columbia returns to action on Friday when the team hosts Dartmouth at 7 p.m.
