Columbia lost to Cornell, 3-0, in Ithaca on November 5th, 30-21, 32-30, 30-15. The Lions fell to 3-21, 0-12 Ivy League, while the Big Red moves to 8-15, 5-7 Ivy League.
The Lions led 7-10 in the first game before Cornell came back to tie the game at 13. The Big Red switched gears and pulled ahead to grab a 30-21 victory. The Lions would not go away quietly, battling in game two, which the Big Red ended up winning, 32-30. Columbia had 20 kills in game two and just six errors, hitting .280. Cornell had 18 kills on less attempts in that game.
The Big Red took a 10-5 lead in game three, and the Lions were never able to catch up to Cornell's momentum. Cornell won game three 30-15 to seal the match victory.
Cornell's libero Megan Mushovic tallied 37 digs to mark the seventh time this season she has recorded over 30 digs in a match.
Natalie Gerling and Amalia Viti notched 11 and 10 kills to lead the Lions, respectively. Setter Shannon Hunzicker tallied 23 assists, while libero Ellie Thomas had 14 digs.
