
Volleyball Falls to Cornell, 3-1

The Columbia volleyball team dropped a four-game match to Cornell, 3-1 (30-21, 30-17, 24-30, 30-21) in the Ivy League opener for both teams. Columbia fell to 3-9, 0-1 Ivy League and Cornell improved to 4-6, 1-0 Ivy League.
After three lead changes to begin game one Cornell broke out as libero Megan Mushovic served for five points, giving the Big Red a 14-9 advantage. The teams traded points for the duration, with Cornell closing out the game on a 4-0 run for the 30-21 victory.

After the 10-minute break between games two and three Cornell started with a 5-1 lead to open up the third game.
With game three tied at 24-24,
Cornell stormed out in game four, establishing a 9-0 run with kills by four different players. Several points later the Lions went on a 7-4 rally to force a Big Red timeout to bring the score to 13-7. The teams traded points, but Cornell kept the lead for the duration in the 30-21 win.
Outside hitter Colleen McNutt finished with nine kills and four block assists, with four of those kills coming in game four.
Marchsyshyn added two kills to her 28 assists, and libero Ellie Thomas had 12 digs to lead the defensive effort.
