The Series vs. Yale
This is the 213th meeting between Columbia and Yale, in a series that dates back to the 1901-02 season. The Lions lead the series 119-93. Columbia is 2-6 vs. the Bulldogs during Coach Joe Jones' tenure with the Lions. Columbia ?s 82-64 win in New Haven last season was the largest margin of victory by either team since Yale's 76-56 win on February 16, 2002. It was also Columbia's first win in New Haven since 2000.

This is the 120th meeting between Columbia and Brown, in a series that dates back to the 1900-01 season. Columbia leads the sries 61-58. The teams split last season, with each winning at home. Pizzitola hasn't been particularly friendly to the Lions, as the last Columbia win in Providence was on February 26, 2000.
Battle of the Joneses - Take Five
There are two head coaches that are named J. Jones in the Ivy League and yes, they are related. James Jones, the ninth-year head coach at Yale University, is the older brother of Columbia head coach Joe Jones. The battle of the Joneses is 6-2 in favor of the eldest Jones and Yale.
The only time in Ivy League history that two brothers were simultaneously serving as head basketball coaches was from 1924 to 1928. Basketball Hall of Famer Ed Wachter was the coach at Harvard while his brother, Leonard, coached at Dartmouth in the Eastern Intercollegiate Basketball League, the forerunner of the Ivy League. Research indicates that two brothers coaching within the same conference is extremely rare. The most notable tandem was Clarence and Hank Iba, who each coached in the Missouri Valley Conference from 1949 to 1957. Clarence was in charge at Tulsa while Hank coached Oklahoma State.
No Place Like Home
While the Lions are currently 3-4 at home this season, Columbia set the Levien Gymnasium record with 10 home wins in 2006-07.
