Thompson earns Columbia’s Academic All-Ivy nod
PRINCETON, N.J. — Columbia men's basketball first-year forward Connor Igoe has been named Ivy League Rookie of the Year, and senior Kenny Noland garnered Second Team All-Ivy League recognition, the conference announced on Wednesday afternoon. The postseason awards and honors were voted on by the Ivy League's eight head coaches. Blair Thompson is Columbia's Academic All-Ivy recipient.
Igoe is Columbia's first Ivy League Rookie of the Year in program history. The Brooklyn, New York, native had five double-doubles on the season, which were the most by a first-year in the Ivy League and tied for second in the conference overall. Igoe played in all 28 games and started the final six games of the season, averaging 19.8 minutes per game.
Igoe's 158 rebounds and 5.6 rebounds per game led the Lions, while his 83 assists ranked second. He averaged 8.3 points per game and shot 49.4 percent from the field (56.4 percent from inside the arc). Igoe's career-high 16 points on 7-11 shooting came against ACC member California on Dec. 21. On Feb. 27 in a win over Brown, Igoe tallied 15 points and 10 assists. His eight rebounds on the night left him two shy of being the first Columbia men's basketball player to record a triple-double.
Throughout the 2025-26 season, Igoe picked up five Ivy League Rookie of the Week awards (Dec. 22, Feb. 2, Feb. 9, March 2, and March 9). He was tied for the league lead with teammate Miles Franklin, who also notched five Rookie of the Week titles.
Noland averaged a team-best 17.1 points per game and was tied for second among Ivy League scorers. Noland led the Lions in assists, field goals made, three-point field goals made, free throws made, and minutes per game. His 72 three-pointers were the third-most in the league.
Noland completed his career by solidifying his name in the program's record book in several categories: 111 games played (tied for fifth); 1,225 points (14th); 281 assists (10th); 126 steals (fourth).
On Jan. 24 at Dartmouth, Noland posted 28 points and 11 rebounds (both career highs) for his first-career double-double in the 79-69 win. Noland went 11-11 from the free throw line (also a career-high) and tallied four steals, which tied his career-best. The Apex, North Carolina native played all 40 minutes.
Noland's 28 points were the most scored by any Ivy League player amongst that week's games and were the most points scored by a Lion on the road since Nov. 13, 2022, at Sacred Heart (Geronimo Rubio De La Rosa, 28). His 28 points were also the most points scored by a Lion in a road Ivy League game since Feb. 15, 2020, at Harvard (Mike Smith, 38).
On Jan. 5 at Cornell, Noland notched his 1,000th career point, becoming the 31st Lion in program history to reach that mark and the first since Geronimo Rubio De La Rosa on Feb. 23, 2024.
Noland trumped his career-high in points three times this year and recorded 13 20-point performances. Noland went off for an at-the-time career-best 27 points in a win at Lehigh on Nov. 21, where he went 11-18 from the field. He then matched the 27-point mark on Dec. 28 at North Florida.
At 70-76 (92.1 percent) from the charity stripe, Noland ranked fifth in the country in free throw percentage among qualified players and set the single-season program record.
Noland earned three Ivy League Player of the Week honors and was added to the Lou Henson Award Early Season Watch List on Dec. 18, which recognizes the top mid-major players in Division I college basketball.
Thompson started all 28 games for the Lions and averaged 11.4 points per game. The New York, New York, native pulled down his 500th career rebound in the Jan. 24 win at Dartmouth, becoming the first Lion to achieve the feat since Mark Cisco in 2012-13.
Thompson joined Gary Raimondo '99CC as the only other Lion to have 500 rebounds and 100 steals in their Columbia careers. He finished his career as a Lion tied for ninth in games played (108). Thompson's 108 steals rank eighth all-time in program history.
