Yale retained the Dodge Cup with a 7.3-second varsity victory over Columbia, in 5:47.72 to 5:55.02 for the 2000 meters, with Penn 2.5 seconds back in 5:57.35.
The Bulldogs also won the freshman race in 5:52.71, a slightly smaller margin than the varsity race, as Columbia was second in 5:59.40. Once again, Penn just missed overtaking the Lions, by 2.5 seconds.
The second varsity race featured two Yale boats finishing 1-2, with Columbia third. Penn didn't enter that race.
Columbia returns to the Orchard Beach Lagoon next week for two weekend regattas. On Saturday, April 26, the Lions host top-ranked Cornell and MIT in the Geiger Cup, while Dartmouth comes to town the next day, April 27, for the Subin Cup. Starting times will be posted as they become available this week.
