
Sam Melvin ‘19CC Selected to USRowing National Team Ahead of World Championships

The lightweight rowing alumnus will race in his sixth Nationals
NEW YORK — Columbia lightweight rowing alumnus Sam Melvin '19CC was selected from the 2026 Selection Camp I, USRowing announced. Melvin will compete at World Cup II and World Cup III, along with the winners of the National Selection Regatta in May. Selection Camp I occurred from Jan. 25 to Feb. 8 at Nathan Benderson Park in Sarasota, Fla.
Melvin finished fourth in the lightweight single sculls at the 2024 World Rowing Championships. The Huntington Beach, Calif. Native finished seventh in the lightweight double sculls at the 2024 World Rowing Final Olympic & Paralympic Qualification Regatta.
In 2019, Melvin was the USRowing U23 Male Athlete of the Year and won the U23 World Rowing Championship in single sculls.
The World Rowing Championships will be held in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, from Aug. 24-30.
