CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- Despite strong winds and two and a half inches of precipitation in the Boston area in mid-October, the Head of the Charles Regatta went on as scheduled, and the Columbia's women's rowing squad beat out boats from Lehigh and Oklahoma, along with a boat from Germany.
The Lions ultimately navigated the narrow, winding Charles River in a time of 18:37.640 over the three-mile course. Rowing in the Women's Championship Eight Competition, Columbia finished six seconds behind a crew from Boston University.
Columbia will close out its fall season next Sunday, October 25 at the Princeton Chase.
