
Schedule Set for George Washington Invitational on April 10-11

NEW YORK -- The Columbia University women's crew will travel to the nation's capital this weekend to take part in the George Washington Invitational on April 10-11. The event will feature crews from George Washington, #3 California, Colgate, Columbia, Georgetown, U.S. Naval Academy, MIT and Saint Joseph's, as they all vie for the Howard W. Wilkins Bowl, which is awarded to the highest point total at the conclusion.
The 2,000-meter, buoyed course begins near the Spout Run area of the Potomac River with the finish line at Washington Harbour in Georgetown. An awards ceremony will follow the competition Saturday at approximately 5:15 p.m. at Washington Harbour near the 3000 block of K St., NW. GW Rowing is headquartered at Thompson Boat Center near the intersection of Rock Creek Parkway and Virginia Avenue, NW.
Admission is free.
The Lions will begin competition on Friday, April 10 as they face Saint Joseph's and the host Colonials. Racing will begin with the novice eight at 1:30 p.m., with the varsity eight slated to go off at 2:51. On Saturday, Columbia will face Georgetown, beginning with the novice eight race at around 8:00 a.m. The Lions conclude their schedule against Navy, with the final varsity eight race set for 2:51 p.m.
