
Schedule for 2009-10 Heavyweight Rowing Season Is Out

NEW YORK – In the midst of one of the program's best runs in recent history, the Columbia heavyweight rowing team will open the 2009-10 season with three fall meets before the start of the spring campaign.
The Lions' season gets going on October 3 in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. at the IRA Preseason Challenge. Two weeks later, Columbia will compete in the Head of the Charles Regatta in Boston on Oct. 18. The fall season wraps up on Oct. 25 at the Princeton Chase in New Jersey.
The spring cup season will begin on March 20 against Florida Tech in the Governor's Cup. A week later, Columbia returns north for the first of four home meets – a March 27 date with Rutgers with the Collins Cup at stake.
On April 3, Columbia will welcome MIT and Holy Cross for the Alumni Cup and a week later, the Childs Cup will be contested with Princeton and Penn on April 10 at home.
The Lions will race Yale and Penn for the Blackwell Cup on April 17 and a week later, Columbia will host Boston U. and Syracuse for the Doc Lusins Trophy to wrap up Columbia's home slate.
On May 1, Columbia meets Navy for the Maxwell Stevenson Cup at a location to be determined. Eastern Sprints will take place on May 16 on Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester, Mass. and the IRA National Championships are slated for June 3-5.
