
Nick LaCava '09 Wins USRowing National Selection Regatta in Men's Lightweight Pair

PRINCETON, N.J. – Columbia lightweight rowing alumni Nick LaCava '09CC won the Lightweight Men's Pair event at the USRowing National Selection Regatta (NSR) on August 22.
Teaming with Anthony Fahden, LaCava's boat won the race in a time of 6:45.3, using a strong rhythm late in the race. LaCava and Fahden took the lead with a few hundred meters to go and eventually defeated the tandem of Kenny McMahon and Ryan Fox by 1.9 seconds.
The NSR determined the final group of selectees for the US Men's Lightweight Four that will be racing at the World Championships in New Zealand on October 31. USA Head Lightweight Coach Brian Volpenheim invited the top three pairs to the light four selection camp in Princeton and will name the crew - the priority boat for the USA lightweight program - on September 20.
Also in contention for spots on this year's World Championships USA Lightweight 8+ team are recent alums Bob Duff '10CC and Mike Nucci '10CC. Along with LaCava, both Duff and Nucci will learn their fate for the World Championships on Sept. 20.
