NEW YORK – The Columbia track & field team had several strong performances this weekend in Princeton, N.J., at the annual Larry Ellis Invitational, highlights by junior
Sharay Hale's new Ivy League record in the 200m dash.
Hale ran the 200m dash, taking the top spot in 23.69 seconds, a new Ivy mark. The junior also took the top spot in the 400m dash, coming in at 53.10. But Hale's was just one strong performance out of many.
On the men's side, senior
Matthew Stewart performed well in the 800m run, breaking 1:50 with a time of 1:49.70. Two first-years also did well, as
William Kovalczyk came in at 1:52.96, and
Harrison McFann hit 1:52.99. First-year
Cody Love completed the 400m hurdles in 53.04, good for third place in his heat.
In the 5000m run, Columbia sophomore
Paul Snyder was the top finisher for the Lions, coming in fifth with a time of 14:07.81, while senior
Brendan Martin came in at 14:09.77. And Columbia had three strong performances in the mile, as junior
Adam Behnke came in third in 4:04.40, sophomore
Mark Feigen came in fourth in 4:04.86, and senior
Jeff Moriarty came in eighth overall, with a time of 4:14.12.
The women's track & field also performed well. In the Friday night session, Columbia had strong distance performances, as
Mallory Anderson was the top finisher for the Lions in the 3000m steeplechase, coming in at 10:38.67. And the Lions had three runners in the top ten of the 5000m run, as senior
Jacqueline Drouin came in sixth in 16:30.49, sophomore
Emily Lanois came in eighth in 16:38.21, and sophomore
Noelle Van Rysselberghe came in tenth in 16:40.99.
