NEW YORK - With match point looming and trailing 16-24 in the fourth set, the Columbia volleyball team rallied behind four kills from Bailey Springer and pulled within one (23-24), but could not hold onto the comeback as Princeton took down the Lions, 3-1, Friday night at Levien Gymnasium. The setback came by set scores of 17-25, 28-26, 18-25 and 23-25.

Princeton (11-8, 6-3 Ivy League) combined to hit .232 on the day with a trio of Tigers posting double-digit kills with Kendall Peterkin's 24 leading the way. Nicole Kincade and Brittany Ptak added 14 kills and 11 kills, respectively.
Columbia fell behind early in the first set and Princeton rolled to a 25-17 victory. The Lions bounced back in a tightly contested second set. Columbia remained ahead despite 17 lead changes and six ties to take the set, 28-26, and level the match. Similar to the first frame, the third was all Princeton as the visitors took a 2-1 lead off a 25-18 third set win. Things looked down for the Lions in the final frame before the hosts' late rally, but the Tigers' sealed the victory off a kill by Ptak.
Columbia returns to action tomorrow as the Lions' host Penn at 5 p.m. at Levien Gymnasium live on the Ivy League Digital Network.
