Lowdown on the Lions
Columbia split its weekend as the Lions took down Penn, 3-0, before falling at Princeton, 1-3, to move to 6-6 on the year and 2-1 in the Ivy League, which puts the Lion tied for second in the conference with Dartmouth and Yale.
Bailey Springer ranks third in the league with 3.10 kps while Katarina Jovicic (2.14 kps) and Anja Malesevic (2.11 kps) contribute over 2.00 kps each to the Lions' 11.80 kps. Jovicic has connected on 77 of 167 attempts to boast the third-best hitting percentage in the conference (.371) with Jennifer Petrovich's 9.18 aps placing third.
Columbia receives the fifth-best dig per set average amongst the Ivies in senior Charlee Dyroff (4.26). Jovicic and Kesi Neblett add to the Lions' defense with 1.03 bps and 0.82 bps, respectively.
Breaking Down the Big Green
Dartmouth enters the weekend tied with Columbia for second in the conference with a 2-1 Ancient Eight mark, but owns an 11-3 overall record after winning seven of its last 10. As a team, the Big Green ranks in the bottom half of the league in hitting percentage (.189), kills per set (11.81) and assists per set (11.19), but the squad's solid defensive play has kept the team competitive as Dartmouth boasts the league's best blocks per set average (2.19).
Paige Cardidi ranks fourth in the Ivy League with 3.06 kps while Kayden Cook's 6.02 aps sits sixth. Lottie MacAulay (1.02 bps) is third in the conference with Julia Lau (3.83) coming in eight with digs per frame.
Inside the Series with Dartmouth
Columbia split its series with Dartmouth in 2013, but trails the all-time series that dates back to 1988, 18-22.
Catching Up with the Crimson
Harvard split at home last weekend with Yale (W, 3-2) and Brown (L, 0-3) to move to 8-4 overall and into a share of fifth place in the Ivy League with a 1-2 conference mark. The Crimson owns the top kills per set average (13.32) in the conference on the league's best hitting clip of .240. On the defensive side, the Crimson remains competitive thanks in part to the league's second-best blocks per set average (2.09) despite trailing the Ivies in digs per set with 13.77.
Corrinne Bain paces the Harvard offense with 2.51 kps and a .263 hitting percentage, while the sophomores sits atop the Ivy League with 0.49 aces per set and is fourth in the conference with 6.53 aps. Last Time Out
It was a back-and-forth battle between Columbia and Princeton Saturday night at Dillon Gym, but it was the Tigers that prevailed to remain unbeaten in Ivy League action as the Lions fell, 3-1. Columbia suffered its first conference loss by set scores of 25-20, 20-25, 10-25 and 25-27.
First-year Anja Malesevic and junior Bailey Springer registered 12 kills each for Columbia with the rookie's contribution being a career-high. Fellow first-year Caitlin Cole also posted a career-best with five kills on a .444 hitting clip.
With 35 assists, Jennifer Petrovich brought her career handout total to 1,023 making her the newest member of the Lions 1,000-assist club. The sophomore is the first Columbia setter to eclipse the 1,000 assist plateau since Kelsey Mussleman '13CC did so in 2010. Petrovich also recorded 11 digs to post her second double-double of the season and 12th of her career.
Senior Charlee Dyroff paced the defensive effort with 21 digs to go with seven blocks from sophomore Kesi Neblett.

Lions at Levien
Columbia has posted a perfect 4-0 record inside the friendly confines of Levien Gymnasium this season. The last time the Lions won four straight at home was a five-match stretch from Sept. 14-28, 2012 that included victories over Colgate (3-1), Rhode Island (3-0), Hofstra (3-2), Cornell (3-0) and Brown (3-2).
Club 1,000
Jennifer Petrovich became the newest member of Columbia's 1,000 assist club at Princeton Saturday, Oct. 4 when the sophomore set Caitlin Cole up for a kill in the second set versus the Tigers. Petrovich becomes the first player to eclipse the 1,000-assist plateau since Kelsey Mussleman '13CC did so in 2010.
Block Party
Columbia dominated the net in its Ivy League opener, posting 14 total blocks against Cornell. The Lions have turned in double-digit blocking totals twice this year.
Katarina Jovicic posted a career-high nine blocks in the team's 3-1 win over the Big Red, marking the most blocks in a match for a single player since Savannah Fletcher '13CC totaled 11 at Brown on Sept. 30, 2011.
Jovicic's 1.03bps puts her second in the Ivy League while Kesi Neblett ranks ninth in the conference with 0.82 bps. Columbia has combined for 1.99 bps as a team the third-best average among the Ivies.
Record Watch
In her final year in Columbia Blue, Charlee Dyroff looks to etch her name in the Lions record book. Currently, the senior sits on the cusp of Columbia's all-time digs list with 801. The Boulder, Colorado, local needs 28 digs to break into the top-five (829). This season, Dyroff averages 4.26 dps, which is good for fifth in the Ancient Eight.
Setting It Up
As the Lions' primary setter, Jennifer Petrovich has dished out the third-best assists per set average in the league with 9.18 handouts to lead Columbia to a .192 hitting percentage, which lands fourth in the Ivy League.

Jovicic's career-best hitting clip of .583 came Sept. 14, 2012 against Colgate (17-324). Currently the middle hitter ranks third in the Ivy League with a .371 hitting percentage and has hit over .300 in every outing except one. The Lions rank fourth in the conference with a .192 percentage.
