
Narayana, Schnur to Compete for Doubles Consolation Crown at 2014 USTA/ITA NIIC

FLUSHING, N.Y. - Ashok Narayana and Max Schnur's 2014 USTA/ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships journey will continue tomorrow at the Bille Jean King National Tennis Center.
Following a walkover victory in the quarterfinals, the senior duo took the court this afternoon against the back draw's top-seeded tandem Robert Cid and Sasha Gozen of South Florida. Schnur helped Narayana avenged his singles lost to Cid as the pair cruised to a 6-4 first set win. The sixth-ranked pair could not hold onto the second set, however, as they fell to the racquets of Cid and Gozen, 6-7(5). In the tiebreaker, Narayana and Schnur took the match 1(0-6) to keep continue on the road to a nationals consolation crown.
Winston Lin competed for the Lions in the singles consolation quarterfinals The eighth-ranked player in the nation met UCLA's Mackenzie Mcdonald. Lin could not surpass the top-seed as he fell 6-3, 6-4.
Narayana and Schnur will face Ohio State's Kevin Metka and Ralf Steinbach in the finals tomorrow.
