Lo Reaches 1,000 Career Points in Men's Basketball's Defeat at Dartmouth

HANOVER, N.H. – The Columbia men's basketball team fell at Dartmouth, 61-49, Saturday night. Junior Maodo Lo scored 11 points and reached 1,000 for his career, becoming just the 27th player in school history to accomplish the feat, in the first half of the contest.
Steve Frankoski scored a team-high 14 points for the Lions (11-11, 3-5).
Dartmouth came out firing on all cylinders, starting the game 5-of-7 from the floor to take a 12-0 lead 4:10 into the contest. The Big Green lead ballooned to 17 with 12:11 left in the half until Columbia made its move.
Frankoski converted on a pair from long range to trim the deficit to 19-10 with 9:53 to go. Lo's milestone triple sparked a 16-4 run during the final seven-plus minutes to pull the Lions within 28-26 at the break.
Frankoski trey briefly gave Columbia a 31-30 advantage with 17:09 remaining in regulation. After several minutes of back-and-forth play Isaac Cohen knotted the score, 37-37, with a layup at the 11:51 juncture. From there, Dartmouth scored the next 12 points over the next eight minutes to take control of the game for good.
Dartmouth shot 50-percent from the field and 7-of-12 (58.3 percent) from 3-point range. The Lions were held to 39.1 percent shooting and were outrebounded, 33-20.
Miles Wright led the Big Green with 16 points. Gabas Maldunas also eclipsed 1,000 career points in the game, finishing with 11 and added nine rebounds.
Columbia will remain on the road to take on Brown on Friday, February 20 at 8 p.m. The game will televised by the American Sports Network and can be heard on the Ivy League Digital Network.
