BOSTON – Columbia men's basketball senior Maodo Lo was selected as one of 31 players to the Lou Henson Award Mid-Season Watch List, as announced by CollegeInsider.com. Lo was also tabbed for the preseason watch list.
The Lou Henson Award is presented annually to the Mid-Major player in division I college basketball. The award is named in honor of Lou Henson who coached 41 years. When he left the game in 2005 he was sixth all-time in career Division I wins with 779. He is the winningest coach at both Illinois and New Mexico State. He is one of only 12 coaches in the history of the game to take two schools to the Final Four.
Lo is averaging a team-high 16.2 points, which puts him fourth in the Ivy League. He has made 51 3-pointers on the year, which ranks in the top-30 of the NCAA, and set Columbia's all-time record for threes against Lehigh on Nov. 22. Lo is also the Ivy League leader in steals, checking in at 2.0 per contest.
The Berlin native is fifth on the Lions' career scoring list with 1,440 points and third all-time in steals with 138.
The recipient of the 2016 award will be announced at the CollegeInsider.com Award Presentation on April 1 in Houston, site of the men's division I national championship.
