Men's Tennis Kicks Off Spring Break at Michigan

NEW YORK - The Columbia men's tennis team will start the first of four spring break matches on Saturday, when the Lions head to Ann Arbor to square off with Michigan at noon.
Columbia (8-3) comes into the match at No. 31 in the latest ITA Rankings, boasting the No. 64 player in the singles rankings in Shawn Hadavi, the No. 10 team in doubles with Hadavi and Richard Pham, while Mike Vermeer and Michal Rolski are No. 32 in the doubles rankings.
No. 24 Michigan should provide a challenge for the Lions, with No. 60 Alex Knight, No. 85 Johnathan Malik, and No. 123 Carter Lin all making an appearance in the latest ITA Rankings. The Wolverines come into the weekend at 10-3, earning a 4-3 win at Miami before losing 4-3 to USF this past week.

Columbia at UT Arlington | Tuesday, March 15 - 12 pm
UT Arlington picked up their first ranking of the spring season on March 8, when the doubles team of Daniel Armengol and Jhonathan Gonzalez appeared at No. 61. The duo is 10-1 on the season, and winners of their past six matches. Overall, the Mavericks sit at 10-5, having won their last four matches against UCF, Incarnate Word, Oral Roberts, and Wichita State.Doubles Ranked: No. 61 Daniel Armengol/Jhonathan Gonzalez
Columbia at No. 37 SMU | Thursday, March 17 - 2 pm
SMU sits at 10-4 overall and No. 37 in the latest ITA Rankings. The Mustangs have won their past five matches, in the midst of an 18-match homestand. SMU has two ranked singles players, and two ranked doubles pairs.
Singles Ranked: No. 71 Hunter Johnson, No. 87 Nate Lammons
Doubles Ranked: No. 22 Nate Lammons/Arkadijs Slobodkins, No. 28 Yates Johnson/Hunter Johnson
Columbia at No. 3 TCU | Saturday, March 19 - 12 pm
Perennial-power TCU came in at No. 3 in the latest rankings and is 10-2 on the season. The Horned Frogs fell to No. 1 Virginia at the ITA Team Indoor Championships, and No. 24 Cal during the ITA Kick-Off Weekend. TCU will challenge the Lions with four ranked players, including the No. 2 player in the ITA, Cameron Norrie.
