NEW YORK – The Columbia men's tennis team is sending four to this weekend's Ivy League Qualifier hosted by Princeton. The field includes 32 singles players and 16 doubles teams from all eight Ivy League programs.
TOURNAMENT INFO & SCHEDULE
All matches will be played indoors and are open to the public. Every match and court will be streamed. The stream can be accessed on IvyLeague.tv. The singles and doubles champions each earn the Ivy League's automatic bid to the ITA Conference Masters Championships, held Nov. 5-8 at the Rome Tennis Center in Rome, Ga.
TOURNAMENT HISTORY
At this tournament last year, former Lion Michael Zheng made his 2026-27 debut and won, earning a berth at the ITA Master's Championship. The win propelled him to the NCAA Singles Championship, where he defended his title and cemented his place as one of the greatest college tennis players in NCAA history.
LAST TIME OUT
The Lions had a tremendous showing at the ITA Northeast Regional Championships last weekend in Philadelphia. Sophomore Andrew Ena and first-year partner Damir Zhalgasbay earned a berth in the NCAA Singles and Doubles Championship in November with a 6-4, 7-6(2) win over Penn's Aaron Sandler and Justin Chung.
The doubles championship followed the two young Lions' advance to the singles main draw semifinals. Jung Hee You, Abhishek Thorat, and Aditya Govila all advanced to the singles round of 16 for Columbia.
THE LIONS LINEUP
Charlie Valentine, Andrew Kotzen, Shaan Patel, and You will be competing this weekend, with all four competing in both singles and doubles action.
