
Dubrovich, Hoyle Receive Maniatty Awards at 95th Varsity C Celebration

NEW YORK – Senior fencers Jackie Dubrovich and Jake Hoyle were each presented the Connie S. Maniatty Outstanding Senior Student-Athlete Awards to highlight the 95th edition of the Varsity C Celebration at Levien Gymnasium on Tuesday night.
The event was hosted by former Columbia football great and current co-host of ESPN's SportsNation, Marcellus Wiley '97CC. The show honored all Columbia student-athletes and their outstanding achievements during the academic year.
Dubrovich earned All-American honors in foil all four years with the Lions, earning first team accolades in 2013, 2014 and 2016, and second team honors in 2015. The Riverdale, New Jersey, native was an All-Ivy League selection all four years and boasts a career record of 365-47 - good for an .886 winning percentage.
Hoyle is a two-time NCAA individual epee champion to help the Lions win back-to-back combined national championships. A three-time All-Ivy League honoree, Hoyle has a career record of 243-106 and qualified for the NCAA Regionals in all four seasons.
Now in its second year, the William V. Campbell Athlete of the Year award was given to one male and one female student-athlete who demonstrates superior athletic ability during the academic year. This year, the recipients were Dubrovich and men's basketball's Maodo Lo.
Dubrovich also picked up an individual silver medal at the NCAA Championships, helping Columbia earn the NCAA Championship for the second straight season. She posted an 18-0 mark at the Ivy League Round Robin Championships to become the conference's individual foil championship. Dubrovich finished her illustrious career posting a 99-4 record.
Lo led Columbia to the 2016 CollegeInsider.com Championship and earned unanimous first team All-Ivy League honors to go with first team All-Met and NABC All-District honors. The Berlin product averaged 16.9 points per game and led the Ivy League in steals, averaging 2.23 per game, which put him 11th in the nation. Lo set a pair of Columbia single-season records, knocking down 96 3-pointers and registering 75 steals.
The event also featured the presentation of the Athletics Alumni Award to Joan Campion '92CC and Colin Redhead '85CC.
The watch award presentations for the Columbia senior student-athletes earning the highest cumulative grade-point averages and at least two varsity letters. Cadie Naquin (women's soccer) earned the Marion R. Philips Watch and Daniel Morgan (men's tennis) earned the Dwight D. Eisenhower watch.
In addition, the seventh annual Lions Cup was awarded to the men's fencing team. The Lions Cup is a competitive event for all Columbia University varsity sports programs that is a means by which student-athletes can compete on behalf of their teams for points in various categories.
The men's golf team earned the Paul E. Fernandes Community Service Award, given to the varsity sports program achieving the most significant contributions and notable service to the University and local communities during an academic year.
