Lightweight’s 2V8 was victorious in the Second Final on Sunday
GOLD RIVER, Calif. — No. 9 Lightweight and No. 15 Heavyweight Rowing completed the IRA National Championship Regatta at Lake Natoma on Sunday.
Sunday's racing was highlighted by lightweight's Second Varsity Eight victory in the Second Final. The Lions posted a time of 6:04.887, defeating Yale by less than half of a second. Columbia earned its spot in the Second Final after a 6:05.430 finish in its heat.
Columbia's lightweight Varsity Four reached the Grand Final and finished sixth with a time of 6:49.410. The Lions' lightweight First Varsity Eight notched a fourth place finish in the Second Final at 6:02.794.
The Lions' First and Second Varsity Eight for the heavyweight crew picked up a pair of fourth place finishes in the Third Finals. After a victory in the CD Semifinal, the heavyweight Third Varsity Eight placed third in the Third Final at 6:02.978.
