PHILADELPHIA- Columbia fencing had successful start to its season this past weekend at the Temple Open. The Lions performed ahead of any other program, claiming 11 total medals including four Golds, two Silver, and five Bronze.
Senior
Nolen Scruggs claimed the top spot in men's foil competition, while newcomer
James Bourtis took home Bronze. In women's foil,
Sylvie Binder topped the competition taking home a Gold, while senior
Quinn Crum finished third.
In epee, junior Ann Cebula finished second over 64 fencers in competition.
Kenya Plenty and Leeann Choy tied for third. On the men's epee side,
Cedric Mecke placed second in the field.
Dawson Sieradzky took Gold in men's sabre competition, and Alex Walker took Bronze.
Daniella Timofeyev finished in first place over 64 other women sabre fencers.
Next up, the Lions head down to NYU on November 9. The meet begins at 5 p.m.
