
Jonathan Suckow Sweeps Ivy League Diving Crowns

Princeton, N.J. - While setting a program record for the fifth time, Jonathan Suckow took home three-meter dive crown with a score of 447.80. The victory gives the first-year the Ivy League diving sweep after winning the one-meter dive on Thursday night. The sweep marks the third-consecutive title for Columbia diving and its eighth-straight crown in three seasons. Suckow was named Ivy League Diver of the Year and joins previous four-time champion and teammate Jayden Pantel who posted a third-place finish today in the three-meter dive with a score of 361.80. Pantel was also awarded The Ron Keenhold Award, given to the Ivy League's career high point diver.
"It is a great honor to represent Columbia at the Ivy League Championships. It was a great week of competition and I am looking forward to getting back to work as we prepare for the NCAA Zone Championships," Suckow said.
The Columbia swimming & diving team capped the final day of the 2018 Men's Swimming & Diving Ivy League Championships with 10 championship finishes and a number of impressive performances on Saturday at DeNunzio Pool. Jae Park led three Columbia podium finishes in the 200 breaststroke with a fourth-place time of 1:56.15. After breaking his previous school record in the prelims of 200 backstroke with a time of 1:43.17, Michal Zyla returned for a fourth-place finals finish. Shane Brett added an impressive third-place finals finish in the 200 butterfly with a time of 1:44.3.
Columbia finished Ivies with a final tally of 1107.5 pts. for fourth place. Harvard took first place with a leading score of 1630.5 pts, followed by Princeton (1285.5 pts.) and Yale (1138 pts.) . With 1032.5 pts. Penn placed fifth, with Cornell (800 pts.) in sixth and Dartmouth (561 pts.) in the final spot.

DAY THREE HIGHLIGHTS:
For the second-consecutive night, Jae Park posted a record-breaking performance at the 2018 Men's Swimming & Diving Ivy League Championships on Friday. Park clocked in a NCAA 'B' time of 3:45.79 for third place in the 400 I.M. for a new program record, besting the previous record of 3:47.35 set in 2014. Shane Brett and a fifth-place finish in the event with a time of 3:50.10. Michal Zyla broke his own program record of 1:35.50 in the 200 Freestyle with a third-place championship finals time of 1:35.31 (NCAA 'B'). Making podium finishes in the 100 Breaststroke was Jack Smith (4th - 54.05 'B') and Zach Thomas (6th - 54.32 'B') for the Lions.
Columbia capped the evening with a program record time of 3:12.05 in the 400 medley relay by the tandem of Michal Zyla, Jack Smith, Kevin Frifeldt and Nian-Guo Liu. They bested the previous recod time of 3:13.31 set last year.
Columbia holds strong in fourth place in the overall team standings with 718.5 points and closing in on Yale in third place with 730 points. Harvard leads the way with 1090 points, followed by Princeton with 869 points.

DAY TWO HIGHLIGHTS:
For the third-consecutive season, a Columbia diver takes the one-meter dive Ivy League crown. With a score of 374.20, first-year Jonathan Suckow captured his first Ivy League title at the 2018 Men's Swimming & Diving Ivy League Championships on Thurdsay, Feb. 22. Senior Jayden Pantel also placed third in the event with an impressive score of 346.70.

Michal Zyla posted a top-five finish in the 500 Freestyle with a finals time of 4:20.57, while Kevin Frifeldt added a sixth-place finish in the 50 Freestyle with a time of 19.87. With a program record time of 1:46.27, Jae Park finished ahead all swimmers in the 'B' finals of the 200 I.M. Park bested the previous record time of 1:46.64 set in 2015. Shane Brett also finished in the top-eight overall with championship finals time of 1:47.42.

DAY ONE HIGHLIGHTS:
A record night for Columbia men's swimming on day one of the 2018 Men's Swimming & Diving Ivy League Championships on Wednesday, Feb. 21 with an imperssive peformance during the opening relays in DeNunzio Pool.
The 800 freestyle relay team of Michal Zyla, Nian-Guo Liu, Jae Park and Mark Gullick combined for a fifth-place time of 6:26.26 to set a new program record. The tandem bested the previous record of 6:27.32 set in 2013.
The Lions began the afterrnon with a fifth-place finish in the 200 medley relay with the squad of tandem of Cole Stevns, Jace Ng, Kevin Frifeldt and Albert Gwo posting a season-high time of 1:27.83
