Men's squash finished up their season with an impressive win over St. Lawrence
Hartford, Conn. - Men's squash capped its 2018 campaign with an impressive win over St. Lawrence in today's 3/4 playoff, 7-2.
Columbia finishes the season with the No. 3 ranking in the nation, the highest in program history.
"We are obviously disappointed about losing on Saturday but the wins over Rochester and St Lawrence were very satisfying," Kenneth W. Torrey Head Coach of Squash Jacques Swanepoel said. "Winning today gave us the highest finish in program history. We have been in the 3/4 playoff a few times in recent years and this is the first time we won. The team did an amazing job bouncing back after yesterday's loss and it says a lot about the culture this senior class has built."
This was the final team match for seniors Osama Khalifa, Seif Attia and Arhum Saleem who led the Lions to their first Ivy league championship in program history this season. Khalifa and Attia both won their matches today.
This was also the final matches of the rookie campaigns of Velavan Senthilkumar, Krish Kapur and McClain Awalt, who all won their matches today.
A select group of Lions will compete at CSA Individual Championships next weekend in Washington, D.C.
