Columbia Continues Fall Slate at ITA Regional Championships

The Lions will travel to Philadelphia this week for the six-day tournament, Oct. 17-22
NEW YORK — The Columbia men's tennis team continues its fall season this week, traveling to Philadelphia for the ITA Northeast Regional Championships at Penn's Hamlin Tennis Center. The six-day tournament begins Thursday, Oct. 17 and culminates in the championship matches on Tuesday, Oct. 22.
The event kicks off Thursday at 9 a.m. ET with the 64-player singles qualifying bracket. Two rounds of the bracket will be contested Thursday, with the winning 16 players advancing to the main draw. Representing the Lions in the qualifying bracket will be junior Jason Lui and sophomore Ben Gollin.
Gollin and junior Austen Huang open up doubles play for the Lions in the first round of the main draw at 10 a.m. on Friday. However, Columbia tandems Adam Ambrozy/Rian Pandole and Alex Kotzen/Lui have first-round byes and will begin doubles play Saturday in the round of 32.
First-year Ritik Sundaram kicks off main draw singles action on Friday in the round of 128, while Huang, Ambrozy, Kotzen, Pandole and senior Jackie Tang start up singles action Saturday with first-round byes.
Contested at 12 regional Division I host sites across the nation, regional doubles champions and regional singles champions and finalists qualify for the season-ending Oracle ITA National Fall Championships in Newport Beach, California, Nov. 6-10.
Having won the doubles title at the ITA All-American Championships this past weekend, Tang and junior Jack Lin are already qualified to compete at the Oracle ITA National Fall Championships.
