Rowing Teams and Alumni Set to Compete at 55th Head of the Charles

RSVP for the Columbia Alumni Association Post-Race Reception
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Thirty-three Columbia rowing alumni along with members of the Lions heavyweight, lightweight and women's rowing teams will compete at the 55th Head of the Charles Regatta. The world's largest two-day rowing event takes place Saturday and Sunday on the Charles River.
The festivities get underway Saturday at 7:45 a.m. The Rowing Channel will provide a live stream that fans can access by visiting www.rowingchannel.com. Results will be posted to HOCR.org.
Henry Hamilton '64CC and Eric Dannemann '67CC both compete in the opening event, the Men's Senior Veteran 1x. Hamilton will race in Div. II as the event winner in both 2016 and 2017. Dannemann will race in Div. I.
Another past winner at the Head of the Charles is Saiya Remmler '85CC, who won the Women's Grand Masters 1x in both 2013 and 2014, as well as a bronze in 2018. Remmler's goes off in this year's edition at 9:23 a.m.
Current Columbia student-athletes competing in this year's regatta include three heavyweights, 10 lightweights and five women's rowers. Tom Mortimer and Neil Kennedy will race in the Men's Championship Doubles on Saturday afternoon. Heavyweight teammate Kyle Fram takes on the field in the Men's Club Singles on Sunday morning.
Columbia will have two boats in the Men's Lightweight Fours and one boat in the Women's Championship Fours. Dion Ariestanto will cox the 4A with Jack Gallgher, Curtis Alter, Aidan Mahaffeve and Tucker Wurtmann rowing. The 4B will be coxswained by Simon Osak with Alexandros Zisimidis, Torrance Smith, Travis Kennedy III and John Robison. On the women's side, Tteja Senthilnathan will cox the crew of Liza Ray, Hailey Todoroff, Sabina Maurer and Astrid Walker-Stewart.
Additionally, the Columbia Alumni Association, CAA of Boston and Columbia Athletics is hosting a post-race reception at Dillon's, located within walking distance from the Charles River. Prices include two drink tickets and appetizers. Must be 21 years or older to participate. To RSVP, click here.
