Lions to Compete at Penn State Garret Open This Weekend

Defending national champions are one of nine teams competing in 47th annual event at Penn State this weekend.
STATE COLLEGE, Pa.—The defending national champion Columbia Fencing team will compete at the 47th annual Garret Open this weekend at Penn State University.
The event will begin each day at 8:30 a.m. and take place on Saturday and Sunday at the Penn State White Building. Live stats and up-to-date results throughout the weekend can be accessed at this link.
Coming off a Friday visit to the White House to celebrate its 2019 national championship, another group of Columbia fencers will be overseas competing in a variety of international competitions this weekend.
Each year, the Garret Open showcases some of the best collegiate fencers in the country as well as various independent fencers from club programs. This year, fencers from nine teams from around the nation will compete in the event. Teams represented at the Garret Open this weekend include Cleveland State, Columbia, North Carolina, Ohio State, Penn, Penn State, Temple, Wayne State, and Yale.
