Squash Heads to Drexel Saturday, Hosts GW Sunday

Undefeated squash programs look to continue early season success
NEW YORK – The Columbia men's and women's squash teams go up against Drexel and George Washington this weekend. The Lions travel to Drexel on Saturday before returning home to host the Colonials on Sunday at the SL Green Streetsquash courts.
Saturday's women's match at Drexel starts at 2 p.m., followed by the men's match at 4 p.m. Both matches will be streamed live by DrexelDragons.com. Click here to access the live stream.

Men's Preview:
The No. 7-ranked Lions will look to maintain their undefeated start. Columbia has beaten Drexel in each of its last three matchups dating back to the 2015-16 season. Last weekend, they swept both Fordham and NYU, 9-0, at the SL Green Streetsquash courts. Sunday's home match against GW will mark the seventh between the two teams over the eight years. Columbia has won each of those last seven matchups.
Women's Preview:
The No. 6-ranked women's team also swept its competition last weekend, defeating Fordham, 9-0 and NYU, 8-0, at the SL Green Streetsquash courts. The Lions will be looking to make it six straight years with a win over the Dragons. Last season, Columbia edged out Drexel, 5-4, in New York. The Columbia women also ride a three-match winning streak against George Washington, including a 9-0 sweep last year down in D.C.
Scouting Drexel:
Both Drexel teams currently hold an overall record of 1-1. On the men's side, the Dragons swept the Franklin & Marshall Diplomats in their first match of the season, winning, 9-0. That success was halted by a loss against No. 3 Penn, 6-3, last Sunday. Last year, Drexel finished with an overall record of 7-10. On the women's side, the Dragons defeated Franklin & Marshall, 8-1, on Saturday but also lost to No. 8 Penn at the Kline & Specter Squash Center, 5-4. They concluded last season with a 8-8 overall record.
Scouting George Washington:
Both George Washington teams currently hold an overall record of 1-1. The men's team started the season strong with a clean win against Georgetown University, 9-0. They weren't able to have the same result in the matchup against the University of Virginia, losing by a final of 7-2. The Colonials had an overall record of 13-12 last year and a five-game winning streak within the season. The women's team began with a strong start as well, sweeping Georgetown, 9-0. They were defeated by Princeton, 8-1, on Sunday. George Washington's women's team is coming off a 5-15 season from a year ago.
