UNCASVILLE, Conn. – The Columbia men's basketball team picked up an 82-52 victory over Central Connecticut State to wrap up the Basketball Hall of Fame Tip-Off Tournament. Mike Smith registered 20 points on 8-of-10 shooting and was named to the All-Tournament Team.
 
Jake Killingsworth tied a career-best with 17 points, all coming in the first half, on 6-of-10 shooting and added seven boards. Randy Brumant chipped in five points and 10 rebounds.
 
The Lions (2-5) went to work early, going on top 8-2 after a traditional 3-point play from Ike Nweke with 15:57 left in the first half. Jack Forrest buried a triple to put Columbia up by 10 and the Lions extended the advantage to 43-20 thanks to a 17-2 outburst, highlighted by a pair of Killingsworth treys and a Tai Bibbs dunk.
 
Columbia took a 22-point cushion into the locker room and a pair of hoop and harms from Nweke and Bibbs made it 53-28 early in the second half. Joseph Smoyer gave the Lions their largest lead of the night, 76-39, with a block and dunk in transition at the 8:26 mark and never looked back.
 
The Lions shot a season-best 54.2 percent from the field and knocked down 11-of-27 (40.7 percent) from 3-point range. On the glass, Columbia held a 41-24 margin.
 
Jamir Reed paced the Blue Devils (0-7) with 14 points.
