
Columbia Resumes Road Swing Against Duquesne Monday

The Lions and Dukes are set for a 7 p.m matchup on the campus of La Roche University in Pittsburgh.
OPENING TIP-OFF
• Columbia fell to Bryant, 67-65, on a last-second steal and dunk Friday night in Smithfield. The Lions' received a career-high 25 points from Randy Brumant, who also posted 12 boards and 22 points from Mike Smith.
• The Lions are in the midst of a four-game road swing and will take a 13-day break due to final exams.
• Columbia is facing its second undefeated opponent in the span of a week after taking on Delaware (9-0 prior to Saturday).
• Mike Smith has scored 20 or more points in six consecutive games and in eight of 10 contests this season. He is the first Columbia player to accomplish that feat since Bob Evans did so in six-straight from Jan. 19-Feb. 9, 1973.

DUQUESNE'S STATUS
The Dukes remained unbeaten after a 71-58 victory over VMI Wednesday night. The 7-0 start is the best for the program since 1979-80. Duquesne uses a balanced scoring attack and has five players averaging nine or more points per game. Sincere Carry leads the way at 13.0 points per game and is 12-of-27 (44.4 percent) from 3-point range. Michael Hughes posts 11.4 points, 6.7 boards and nearly three blocks per contest.
INSIDE THE SERIES
Columbia is 0-2 against Duquesne. The schools have not met since Dec. 21, 1974 an 88-63 victory for the Dukes at the Big Sun Invitational in St. Petersburg, Florida.
COLUMBIA VS. THE ATLANTIC 10
Columbia holds a 33-69 record against teams currently in the Atlantic 10. Columbia's most common A-10 foe is Fordham (28-50) and that is the Lions' last victory from an A10 opponent in 2008 when the Rams were a member of the Patriot League. Prior to that, Columbia came away with a 52-40 win over UMass on Dec. 29, 1984.
IF I COULD BE LIKE MIKE
Senior Mike Smith is doing it all for Columbia this season. He is ranked among the top-50 nationally in points per game (21.9 - 16th), 3-point field goal percentage (45.0 percent - 39th), assists (5.3 - 45th) and minutes per game (36:45 - 17th). Smith is also third in the NCAA in total points with 219.
