PITTSBURGH, Pa. – Duquesne's Tavian Dunn-Martin led three Dukes in double-figures with 25 points to lead the Dukes to a 90-54 victory over the Columbia men's basketball team Monday night.
Mike Smith led the way once again with 22 points, extending his string of 20-point games to seven. Smith's stretch is the longest for a Lion since Jim McMillian did so during the 1969-70 season.
The Dukes shot 58.5 percent from the floor and knocked down 10 triples, the most for a Columbia opponent this season. Maceo Austin added 18 points, while Marcus Weathers chipped in 16.
The Dukes took an early 11-2 lead and used a pair of 7-0 runs during the first half to grab a 45-21 advantage heading into the locker room. Columbia uncharacteristically had 11 first-half turnovers, leading to 18 Duquesne points.
In the second, the Dukes kept their foot on the gas and led by as many as 40 to move to 8-0 on the year.
Ike Nweke posted nine points and six rebounds, while
Luke Bolster dished out a career-high five assists.
The Lions will resume play at the end of final exams Sunday, December 22, at Colgate. Tip-off is set for 12 p.m. in Hamilton, New York, and the game will be broadcast live on the Patriot League Network.
