NEW ORLEANS, La.—The Columbia men's and women's cross country teams once again landed on the USTFCCCA Scholar teams list, while four women's runners—
Erin Gregoire,
Allie Hays,
Maria Kogan and
Libby Kokes—found their names on the All-Academic individuals list.
In order to be named to the individual All-Academic list, an athlete must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25, while finishing in the top-25 at the NCAA Regional Meet. The team award goes to squads that have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0. This year, the Columbia women qualified with a 3.49 grade point average, while the men's team put up a 3.34.
On the individual side, Gregoire, Hays, Kogan, and Kokes propelled the Lions women's team to their second straight Ivy League Cross Country Team Championship, the 2018 Northeast Region title and the program's eighth all-time NCAA Championship appearance. At the NCAA Championship meet, the Lions finished No. 18 out of 31 teams nationally. Columbia automatically qualified for the NCAA meet with a first place finish at the NCAA Northeast Regional meet.
Kokes (fourth place), Gregoire (seventh place), Kogan (ninth) and Hays (ninth) all earned USTFCCA All-Region honors. Kokes and Gregoire were both First Team All-Ivy League honorees, while Hays was named Second Team All-Ivy League.
Director of Cross Country/Track and Field Dan Ireland was named the 2018 Ivy League and 2018 Northeast Regional Women's Cross Country Coach of the Year.
