Goswami Earns 500th Win in 6-1 Triumph at UT Arlington

The No. 9 Columbia men's tennis team won the first of its three matches to be played in Texas this week, marking head coach Bid Goswami's 500th win
ARLINGTON, Texas — The No. 9 Columbia men's tennis team opened up its three-match road stretch on Monday evening with a 6-1 victory over UT Arlington at the UTA Tennis Center. The win marked 37th-year head coach Bid Goswami's 500th win at Columbia.
The Lions improve to 9-1 overall, extending their win-streak to five straight matches. UTA falls to 8-5 on the season.
Action opened up with a closely-contested doubles point, but Columbia came up on the winning end to grab the early advantage. After Victor Pham and Rian Pandole teamed up for a 6-4 victory on court three, it would come down to the No. 2 court where Jack Lin and Austen Huang overcame a 6-5 deficit to win the tiebreaker and clinch the first point.
On the top court, 31st-ranked Pham extended Columbia's lead to two, winning 6-4, 6-2 over UTA's Enrique Pardo. Junior Alex Keyser saw the court for the first time this dual season, picking up an impressive 6-0, 6-1 win on court for to bring the Lions within one of the team victory. Huang sealed it with a 6-5, 7-5 win at No. 5 singles.
Columbia tacked on two more points to its total as senior Timothy Wang and 76th-ranked junior Adam Ambrozy turned in winning performances on courts six and three, respectively.
UTA earned its lone point of the match as No. 11 Lin dropped a tough 10-point third-set tiebreak at No. 2 singles.
Columbia will return to action Wednesday, March 21, for the second match in its Lone Star State trip, taking on No. 12 TCU at 7:30 p.m. ET.
