PRINCETON, N.J. – With the 2019 season quickly approaching the Ivy League released, on Thursday, Aug. 29, the 2019 Ivy League Preseason Media Poll, with Columbia Volleyball picked to finish seventh, the same spot that they finished the 2018 season in.

Columbia finished the 2018 season 10-14 (4-10 IVY), placing them seventh place in the Ivy League. This Lions received 44 points in the poll, finishing above Penn (24 points) and just behind Brown (45 points) who was picked to finish sixth in the poll.Â

At the top of the poll, Princeton (120 points) edged out defending Ivy League Champion Yale (117 points), with the Tigers getting 10 first-place votes and the Bulldogs earning five, to set up what media members across the Ivy League feel will be a battle at the top of the league. Cornell (91 points), Harvard (90 points) and Dartmouth (55 points) round out third, fourth and fifth respectively with the Crimson earning one first-place vote.

The Lions open the season on Sept. 6 with a matchup against Howard in Queens, N.Y. at the Jack Kaiser Volleyball Classic. Columbia's Ivy League schedule gets started on Sept. 28 with a visit to Cornell and the home slate of Ivy League matches gets going on Oct. 11 with Harvard coming to Levien Gym.
