No. 11 Columbia Men's Squash will head on the road for the final time this season for an Ivy League match at Penn.
PHILADELPHIA – After a solid 8-1 win over then-ranked No. 7 Dartmouth (Feb. 2), No. 11 Columbia Men's Squash (6-7, 3-2 IVY) hits the road for one final time this season, as they visit No. 3 Penn (10-2, 4-1 IVY) for a Friday, Feb. 7 Ivy League matchup in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania with the match set to get going at the Penn Squash Center at 5 p.m.
REVIEWING THE PREVIOUS: The Lions returned home last Sunday, Feb. 2, and proceeded to snap a five-match losing streak by dominating then-ranked No. 7 Dartmouth, 8-1, in an Ivy League victory. During the match, James Wyatt, Callan Hall, Robin Mann, Krish Kapur, Chaitanya Shah, Justin Ghaeli, Aditya Kankariya and Hugh Camiener each collected wins, while Mann clinched the match with a four-set (7-11, 11-9, 11-5, 11-7) victory at No. 3.
WHAT THE QUAKERS BRING: The Quakers come into Friday's match as the second-best team in the Ivy League, sitting only behind No. 1 Harvard in the standings, and they are currently ridding a three-match winning streak. During that streak, Penn has taken down Princeton, Brown and Yale for a strong stretch against the Ivy League, with the last loss coming at Trinity (6-3) on Jan. 18.
Last season, in a matchup at the SL Green Streetsquash Center on Feb. 10, 2019, Columbia knocked off the Quakers, 6-3, in what was senior day for the Lions. The last time Columbia made the trip to Penn, was on Feb. 11, 2018, where the Lions came away with a 5-4 win, and the Lions own a five-match winning streak against Penn, with the last loss coming during the 2014 season.
At the top of Penn's lineup is Saksham Choudhary, who sits at 12-0, ranking him second in the nation. Choudhary's wins have come mainly from the No. 7 spot, where he is 9-0, and he owns a 5-0 record in the Ivy League. The other two double-digit winners for Penn are Aly Abou Eleinen (10-2) and James Flynn (10-2), with Eleinen playing at No. 2 (9-2) and Flynn at No. 3 (9-2)
