Suckow remains undefeated in 2021-2022 season.

CAMBRIDGE, MA -- For the fourth consecutive meet this season Jonathan Suckow swept the diving competition, as Columbia men's swim and dive team (2-2) fell to the reigning Ivy League Champions, Harvard, 93-207 in Cambridge. Suckow recorded massive marks on both boards, claiming the one meter event with 405.08 points and the three meter in 407.93. The junior's one meter result was just 0.67 points away from tying Harvard's pool record (405.75) set by 2007 NCAA National Champion Terry Horner of Florida.

"The meet went as we expected," reflected head coach Jim Bolster. "Harvard is an outstanding team and rather than focus on swimming our best lineup we took the meet as an opportunity to swim off events. We accomplished this and had some good efforts."

Demirkan Demir highlighted an already impressive rookie campaign with a win in the 200 breast. The first-year touched the wall in 2:00.75, nearly three seconds ahead of Harvard's Gunner Grant (2:03.21) in second. Demir snagged a second place finish in the 100 breast, narrowly missing the top spot by less than one tenth of a second (55.44).

Fellow rookie Josh Cho contributed six individual points with a second place finish in the 100 back (50.40) and a fifth place result in the 500 free (4:45.96).

Columbia's 200 free relay team of Demir, Thomas Shepanzyk, Andy Huang, and Jonas Kistorp concluded the competition on a high note, swimming for second (1:23.92) just a few tenths of a second behind Harvard's winning squad (1:23.12).

Next up, the Lions will travel to Princeton to compete in the Princeton Invite from Dec. 3-5.
