SPLIT, Croatia — Maodo Lo '16CC and Team Germany earned a spot at the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo after defeating Brazil, 75-64, Sunday in the championship game of the FIBA Qualifiers in Croatia. Lo notched 10 points and added five assists in 30 minutes to hand Brazil its first loss of the event.
Lo started all four games, posting averages of 12.8 points, 4.0 assists and 2.5 rebounds. Germany topped Mexico and Russia in the group stage before the former Columbia standout erupted for 29 points, eight assists and four rebounds in a come-from-behind victory against Croatia in the semifinals Saturday.
At Columbia, Lo ranks third on the career scoring list (1,756) and holds the record for most 3-pointers made in program history with 277. He was a three-time All-Ivy League selection, two-time NABC All-Region honoree and led the Lions to the 2016 CIT Championship.
