SAN JOSE, Calif.—Two Columbia Fencers—first-year
Zander Rhodes (women's foil) and first-year
Justin Haddad (men's epee)— claimed Gold Medals and nine total Lions placed among the top-10 fencers in respective divisions at this past weekend's January North American Cup, Jan. 7-10 in San Jose, Calif. Complete results are available at

Rhodes won the Junior women's foil title out of 167 fencers. She also placed 10
th in the Division I women's foil competition out of 149 fencers, which included Columbia graduates Jackie Dubrovich '16CC (third place) and
Iman Blow '19CC (third place), and senior
Sylvie Binder (seventh place). Haddad claimed the Junior Men's Epee Gold as he topped 256 fencers, and also placed third in the Division I men's epee competition out of 300 fencers.
Other Lions who placed inside the top-10 include senior
Josef Cohen, who took sixth place in Division I men's sabre, sophomore
Robert Vidovszky, who finished 10
th in Division I men's sabre, and junior
Alan Temiryaev, who took ninth place in the Division I men's epee competition.
