Lions vie to get over the Ivy hump
NEW YORK — No. 6 Columbia men's squash (6-3, 0-2 Ivy) hopes to post its first Ivy League win of the season this weekend when it visits No. 2 Harvard (7-1, 2-1 Ivy) and No. 11 Dartmouth (3-4, 0-3 Ivy). The Lions take on Harvard on Saturday at 12 noon. Sunday's matchup against the Big Green is scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m. ET.
MATCH COVERAGE
Saturday's and Sunday's matches will be both streamed live. Saturday's match at Harvard will be available on ESPN+ for the national audience, as well as Stretch Internet for any international followers.

Columbia was handed two losses last weekend by No. 4 Trinity, 8-1, and No. 5 Yale, 7-2, but the Lions maintained their No. 6 slot in this week's CSA Team Rankings. Despite the team score, both matches were very competitive, as the Lions went to five games in four of the nine matches against Trinity and only lost three of their top nine matches in three games against Yale. Senior Velavan Senthikumar bounced back from a four-game defeat on Saturday to top Yale's Harrison Gill in three games on Sunday. Justin Ghaeli also earned a victory at the No. 8 against the Bulldogs to tally Columbia's second point.

Columbia has seen its most success this season from the No. 5, No. 6 and No. 8 slots, where they are a combined 21-4 on the campaign. Justin Ghalei is a perfect 3-0 at the No. 8 and boasts a dual record of 6-1 in the top nine this season. First-year Zach Nam is 4-0 in the top nine and 5-0 overall. The top of the lineup has been a coinflip so far this season for the Lions, with the combined record in Nos. 1-3 sitting at 13-14 heading into the weekend. Velavan Senthilkumar is 3-2 in his matches, all of which have come in the No. 1 position.

The Lions have defeated Harvard just once in 12 previous meetings heading into Saturday, which came on Jan. 14, 2018 in New York. Since then, Columbia has lost three straight to the Crimson. The Lions have seen a lot of success against Dartmouth, winning six of the last eight matchups dating back to 2014. They last defeated Dartmouth in Hanover back in 2017.
