NEW HAVEN, Conn — The Columbia indoor track and field team took part in the Yale Season Opener on Saturday morning, and came away with some solid results. A trio of Lions won their respective events, while nine Columbia student-athletes produced top-five finishes in the competition.
Jada Mia Puryear and
McKinlee Morris got the Lions off to a great start in the first women's event of the day, finishing top two in the women's shot put. Puryear took first with a score of 13.26m, and Morris was right behind her with a score of 12.41m.
Lailah Malone emerged victorious in the women's weight throw with a score of 14.90m. The other Lion to win their event was
Will O'Brien who won the men's pole vault with a jump of 4.80m.

Yoosang Kim (shot put),
Nate Gramentine (high jump),
Camylin Blake (60m hurdles),
Chris Balthazar (60m dash), and Puryear (weight throw), all posted top-five finishes in their respective events.
ON DECK: The Lions have a month off before returning to action on Friday, January 13 for the TCNJ Lions Indoor Invite at the Armory. The competition is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.
