Men’s Squash Heads to CSA Team Nationals This Weekend

No. 6 Columbia begins against No. 3 Trinity in Potter Cup Draw
NEW YORK — The Columbia men's squash team (8-6) will compete in the top draw at the College Squash Association National Collegiate Men's Team Championships this Friday-Sunday. The sixth-seeded Lions will begin their quest against No. 3 Trinity (15-2) on Friday. The National Championships are being held at the University of Pennsylvania's Penn Squash Center.

RETURNING TO THE POTTER CUP
Columbia returns to the Potter Cup of the CSA National Championships after missing out in 2019-20. The Lions won the Hoehn Cup in 2020 with wins over Brown, Western Ontario and Cornell.
Ironically, the Lions will be getting a rematch against Trinity in its Potter Cup Draw. Columbia and Trinity squared off in the Potter Cut quarterfinals in Columbia's last appearance. The Bantams squeaked out a 5-4 win.
THE REGULAR SEASON
Columbia posted a record of 8-6 during the 2021-22 regular season. Two of their top wins came against then-No. 7 Virginia and then-No. 5 Drexel. Virginia is the No. 7 seed in this weekend' tournament. Drexel also advanced to the Potter Cup as the No. 8 seed.
AT THE TOP
Senior Velavan Senthilkumar has played the majority of matches in the No. 1 position for the Lions this season, going 5-5 overall. Callan Hall is 5-4 at the No. 2, while James Wyatt is 5-4 at the No. 3.
THE SERIES
Columbia will be hoping for its first win in program history over Trinity, entering the weekend 0-10 all-time against the Bantams. Two of the last four matches were extremely close with Trinity squeaking out 5-4 victories. Trinity earned an 8-1 victory earlier this season in New York.
