Atlanta, GA -- Columbia diver Jonathan Suckow has garnered First Team All-America honors after placing fourth, nationally, in the one meter event at the 2022 NCAA Men's Swim and Dive Championships. The result is the highest individual finish of any Lion since 1983 when Tony Corbisiero won the 1,650 freestyle event. Recognized as one of the greatest divers in Ivy League history, Suckow holds one and three meter program, pool, and championship records.

Suckow qualified for both the one and three meter national event during his last competitive season, 2019. At the 2019 event in Austin, the Geneva, Switzerland native took 22nd in the one meter before securing a 5th place result in the three meter.

"This was an absolutely stunning performance on the biggest stage in collegiate diving," reflected head dive coach, and former NCAA Champion, Scott Donie. "He showed that he belongs amongst the best divers in the country. I am incredibly proud and we are going to take a moment and a deep breath and soak it all in."

Suckow will compete in the three meter event tomorrow, beginning with prelims at 10:00 A.M.. He punched his ticket to Atlanta at the Zone Diving Championship in Annapolis, MD earlier this month, winning the event with a combined score of 852.05.

First-year Demirkan Demir will make his national debut tomorrow, swimming in the 100 breast prelims. The complete preliminary session can be viewed on ESPN3.
