TRACK & FIELD
The Columbia track & field programs have a busy weekend ahead, as the men and women will send a small group to take part in the Gotham Cup on Friday. Saturday, they'll travel to Hanover, New Hampshire, for a tri-meet against Dartmouth and Yale, hosted by the Big Green. The Lions are coming off a successful day at the TCNJ Lions Indoor Invite last Saturday, which included five first-place finishes. The sprinters stole the show, as the trio of Amara Onyeukwu, Sydney Goldson and Alexis Knight won the 200m dash, 3000m dash, and 500m dash, respectively. In addition to both meets this weekend, Elia Ton-That will be competing at the USATF u20 Cross Country Championships on Saturday.
FENCING
It will be a busy weekend for Columbia, with a pair of all-day events on the docket. Both teams will be in action on Saturday at the St. John's Super Cup in Queens, where the Lions will face the Red Storm, Harvard, Ohio State, Penn State and Northwestern. The next day, the women head to Philadelphia for five more dual meets at the Philly Invitational. Last weekend at the Penn State Invite, the Lions mixed and matched their lineups to give some newcomers experience, with the men going a perfect 5-0 and the women taking four of five.
SQUASH
Columbia's men's and women's squash programs go back-to-back on the road this weekend. The ninth-ranked men and eighth-ranked women will play two matches in the state of Connecticut against Yale and Trinity. Yale enters at No. 4 on the men's side and No. 5 on the women's side, while Trinity's men are No. 6 in men's and No. 1 in women's. The Columbia women are coming off a, 5-4, victory from Sunday at No. 9 Penn. Amal Izhar won a crucial five-game match at No. 9 that ultimately decided it. The men will be looking to bounce back from a 9-0 loss to the Quakers.
WOMEN'S TENNIS
Women's tennis heads to Virginia for a Saturday doubleheader to start the 2023 spring schedule. Columbia will play Old Dominion at noon on Saturday in Norfolk. The Lions will then cap off the day with a 5 p.m. match against Morgan State. Columbia closed out the 2022 spring season by winning three of its last four dual matches. With several returners, the Lions are looking to build off the end of last season.
MEN'S SWIMMING & DIVING
Columbia men's swimming & diving will look to make it two in a row on Saturday, when they head to Annapolis, Maryland, for a non-conference meet against Navy. The Lions come into the meet with a 5-1 record, having just beaten the Brown Bears on Senior Day on Saturday at Uris Natatorium. Jonathan Suckow and Adam Wu continued their dominance in the meet, both winning multiple events en route to the 180-120 victory. Other event winners included Zion James, Josh Cho, Demirkan Demir, Brian Lee, Kyle Won, and Stanford Li. Columbia will look to ride that momentum into this weekend and continue its success in the pool to make it six wins on the season.
MEN'S BASKETBALL
Columbia begins a season-long five-game road trip on Saturday when it travels to Providence, Rhode Island, to face Brown. Tip-off from Pizzitola Sports Center is set for 4 p.m. and can be watched on ESPN+. Columbia enters its matchup with the Bears at 6-14 (1-4) and will look to snap a four-game losing streak.
