Field Hockey Concedes Late Goal in Senior Night Loss

Lions manage just one shot on goal

NEW YORK — Columbia field hockey suffered a 1-0 loss to Yale on Senior Night at Columbia Field Hockey Complex.

Yale's Poppy Beales broke the scoreless tie and recorded the match's lone goal with 4:22 left in the fourth quarter after burying a loose ball into the cage.

The Lions (3-11, 0-6) had 10 total shots on the evening, but only created one on goal. The lone shot on frame came from Anabelle Brodeur as time was close to expiring in the first half. Yale goalkeeper Luanna Summer was able to kick it out for her only save of the evening.

Following nearly an hour delay to the start of the match due to weather, the two teams managed just one shot in the opening quarter. In the second frame, Yale (6-8, 3-3) cranked five shots while Columbia had four. Only four of them were on goal.

Columbia goalkeeper Katie Wimmer kept the Lions in the match and recorded six saves. The Lions have now dropped six straight matches.

Thank You Seniors
