TULSA, Okla. – The Columbia men's tennis team wrapped up competition at the ITA Men's All-American Championships with several players making deep runs in their brackets. Following competition in Tulsa, the Lions headed to Philadelphia for the start of the ITA Regional Championships hosted by Penn.
 
Sophomores Nick Kotzen, Michael Zheng, junior Max Westphal and senior Ishaan Ravichander each posted multiple singles wins in Tulsa. Ravichander got started in the pre-qualifying singles bracket to earns wins over Preston Stearns (Ohio State), 2-6, 6-3, 7-5, Brandon Park (UC Irvine), 6-2, 6-0 and Alejandro Jacome (Wichita State), 7-6(5), 6-1. Nick Kotzen also started in the pre-qualifying draw as he posted five singles wins before being eliminated by South Carolina's Casey Hoole.
 
Zheng and Westphal got started later in the week as they earned spots in the singles main draw without any qualifying. Zheng got started with back-to-back wins over Florida's Magnus Johnson, 6-2, 6-2 and Baylor's Tadeas Paroulek, 6-2, 6-4. Zheng battled, but fell to Eliot Spizzirri (Texas) in a 3-6, 6-1, 6-7(3) decision in the singles round of 16.
 
Westphal suffered an early loss to Mississippi State's Dusan Milanovic in the singles round of 64. Moving over to the consolation draw, Westphal rattled off three wins in a row to earn a spot in the consolation semi-finals match. Westphal fell to Arizona's Colton Smith in that match, 1-6, 4-6.
 
Nick Kotzen and Westphal found some success in doubles in Tulsa as the two started in the qualifying draw before earning a spot in the main draw. The duo started the tournament with a 6-3, 6-2 win against Milanovic and Ferrer Guimaraes (Mississippi State) before earning wins against teams from Santa Clara and TCU in the qualifying draw. Kotzen and Westphal earned a win over Horve and Okonkwo (Illinois), 6-3, 6-3 in the doubles main draw to set up a spot in the round of 16. Kotzen and Westphal were defeated in the round of 16 by Robert Cash and JJ Tracy (Ohio State), 4-6, 1-6.
